Easy and Delicious Hummus Recipe

I love hummus. It’s full of protein, fiber and flavor making it the perfect healthy snack. It’s also so easy to make!

Hummus is a delicious spread or dip made from chickpeas, tahini, garlic, olive oil and lemon juice (I use lime juice in place of lemon juice). You can find it pre-made in most grocery stores. But homemade hummus is so much better!

hummus in bowl with pit chips

The first time I tried hummus, I was hooked. My cousin had made some at a family gathering and I knew that I had to get the recipe. She sent me home with a list of ingredients and a partial jar of tahini. In fact, that was the first time I had ever heard of tahini (who knew I would use it in everything now). She didn’t measure any ingredients, just eyeballed and kept tasting until it tasted how she wanted. And so for a while, I did the same.

Eventually, I wanted a more consistent recipe and so after a few attempts, I got it the way I like it.

I know everyone has different taste buds so feel free to adjust this recipe to your taste.

You can serve hummus with pita chips (or pita bread), and sliced veggies, or use it as a spread (It’s delicious on toast with a sprinkle of everything bagel seasoning on top).
